Jomast Given The Green Light For New Homes Development

Stockton Council has given the go ahead for an exciting new housing development to be built on farmland south of Kirklevington.

The plans, which were originally presented by Jomast Developments in July 2015, have been given the green light after the initial number of houses was reduced from 175 to 145 following on from public consultation.

The new development will boost Kirklevington village community with the addition of a convenience store, bowling-green, tennis courts and a dedicated school drop-off/parking zone in the village, as well as a combination of high quality housing.

The plans will also bring significant economic benefits and employment opportunities to the area and will add to Jomast’s already established portfolio of housing developments which includes Wynyard, Jesmond and Hartlepool Bay.

Adam Hearld, Development Director at Jomast, spoke about the plans, saying “We have spent a considerable amount of time and effort creating a scheme that retains and builds upon the strength and traditional character of Kirklevington whilst also recognising the importance of new housing to meet demand and contribute to the sustainability of the village, its facilities and local enterprise”.

Key views, including Grade II listed Church of St Martin have been identified by Jomast and will be protected, and a new village centre with public car park close to Pump Lane will be created which will provide much needed facilities for the school, church and relieve congestion along Forest Lane.

“Our overarching vision is to deliver a range of high quality homes and community facilities that contribute positively to the village. Our residential provision would create a heavily landscaped setting and homes which could accommodate first time buyers, families and the elderly. This, along with much improved community facilities such as a dedicated village green, new public spaces and recreational provision, would bring significant benefits to Kirklevington and the wider community” Hearld added.
