Jomast hopes to add to Stockton’s Cultural Quarter

Jomast Developments have submitted plans with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council for a new cocktail bar and a pub/restaurant in the town's developing Cultural Quarter.

The area, which encompasses Green Dragon Yard, Silver Street, Calvert’s Lane, Finkle Street, Wasps Nest Yard, Theatre Yard and Hodgson’s Yard has been undergoing a period of renaissance.

The first application seeks to bring a vacant building in Wasp Nest Yard back into use as an upmarket cocktail bar.

Adjacent to this, a second application has been made in Silver Court where Jomast are also looking to transform a former café into a pub/restaurant operating seven days a week from 11 am to midnight.

The area has already tapped into the growing micro pub boom with the opening of The Wasp’s Nest in Calvert’s Square last year. It also includes the popular Green Dragon Studios and boasts the country’s oldest surviving Georgian theatre in Green Dragon Yard.

If approved the property developer sees both bars as a welcome addition to the town’s growing entertainment offering whilst also contributing to the development of its Cultural Quarter.

Both planning applications have been submitted to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s planning committee and a decision on both is expected within eight weeks.
